Our commitment
GWB Pharmacy LLC is committed to making gwbpharmacy.com usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level. Healthcare access shouldn't depend on whether you can see, hear, or use a mouse.
What we’ve done
- Text and UI contrast tested against WCAG 2.2 AA across all four palettes (retail, heritage, apothecary, clinical, wellness) and the dark utility bar — secondary text colors were darkened in May 2026 so every label clears the 4.5:1 ratio.
- A "Skip to main content" link is the first focusable element on every storefront page (visually hidden until focused).
- Keyboard navigation supported throughout — tab through the header, search, product grid, cart, and checkout without a pointing device.
- Form fields have visible labels and associated
<label htmlFor>bindings, not placeholder-only labels. Required fields are marked visually and announced; format hints (e.g. date of birth) are tied to the input viaaria-describedby. - Choice sets — delivery method at checkout, one-time vs. subscribe on a product — use proper
role="radiogroup"semantics so screen readers announce the options and selection. - No interactive controls are nested inside links. Product cards use a stretched-link overlay so the "Add" and "Save" buttons stay independently operable by keyboard and assistive tech.
- Touch and click targets are at least 24×24 CSS pixels (WCAG 2.5.8).
- Visible focus rings on every interactive element. The Tailwind v4 palette tokens in
app/globals.cssdefine--primaryas the focus outline color. - Animations and transitions respect
prefers-reduced-motion— they are reduced to near-instant for visitors who request less motion. - Status messages (form errors, cart updates, order confirmations) use semantic
role="alert"/role="status"so screen readers announce them. - Tabular figures and currency rendered with
font-variant-numeric: tabular-numsso amounts align in screen readers and visually.
What’s still in progress
We’re working toward full conformance. Known gaps we’re actively addressing:
- Comprehensive, descriptive alt text for all product images as real photography replaces placeholders.
- Mobile-specific reflow testing across screen reader pairings.
- A formal independent WCAG 2.2 AA audit before the production domain cutover.
